A "Rule of Thumb" is not a rule or law. It
is an approach that we do because we know it works.
• There is no rule with respect to the number of
levels of a WBS
• Always start with Project Management as the first
available
• No more than 10 top-level deliverables
• Use a noun: Object naming convention
• Each sub-components must be available ... the
lowest level of sub-division of a stock is a "work package".
• Each sub-section shall be attributable to one and
only one person.
• Divide the work in finer detail than you intend to
keep or value - not micro-manage
