How can we play audible files on iTunes?

As of my knowledge cutoff in September 2021, it is not possible to directly play Audible files on iTunes. Audible files have a proprietary format (AAX or AA) that is not natively supported by iTunes. However, there is a workaround that allows you to import and play Audible files within the iTunes ecosystem. Here's how:

1.      Download Audible Files:

First, download the Audible files you want to play on iTunes. You can do this by logging into your Audible account and navigating to your library. Select the audiobook you want to download and save it to your computer.

2.      Convert Audible Files to MP3:

Audible audiobooks are usually in a format called AAX or AA, which is not natively supported by iTunes. To make them playable, you need to convert them to a compatible format like MP3. There are third-party conversion tools available online that can help you convert the Audible files to MP3 format. Make sure you follow the instructions provided by the tool to convert the files successfully.

3.      Import MP3 Files to iTunes:

Once you have the converted MP3 files, open iTunes on your computer.

a.      If you are using a Mac, go to "File" → "Add to Library" or press Command+O on your keyboard. Locate the converted MP3 files and select "Open" to import them into iTunes.

b.      If you are using a Windows PC, go to "File" → "Add File to Library" or press Ctrl+O on your keyboard. Browse for the converted MP3 files and click "Open" to import them into iTunes.

4.      Organize Audiobooks:

To ensure your audiobooks are organized properly in iTunes, you can create a separate playlist dedicated to audiobooks. Right-click on the imported MP3 files and select "Get Info" to edit the metadata such as artist, album, and genre. Set these fields according to your preference to organize your audiobooks effectively.

banner5.      Sync with iOS Devices:

If you want to listen to your audiobooks on an iOS device, connect your device to your computer using a USB cable. Go to the device icon in iTunes and navigate to the "Books" tab. Check the box next to "Sync Audiobooks" and choose the desired audiobooks or audiobook playlist you want to sync with your device. Click "Apply" or "Sync" to transfer the audiobooks to your iOS device.

6.      Play Audiobooks:

With your audiobooks imported and organized in iTunes, you can now play them. Double-click on the audiobook file in your iTunes library, and it will start playing in the iTunes player. You can control the playback using the playback controls in the top left corner of the iTunes window.

Please note that the steps provided above are based on the information available up until September 2021. Audible's compatibility with iTunes or the process of playing Audible files on iTunes may have changed since then. It's always recommended to refer to the latest documentation or support resources from Audible or iTunes for the most accurate and up-to-date instructions.
