How to set up a passkey for your Amazon account

Passkeys are a new and more secure way to sign in to your Amazon account. They are similar to passwords, but they are stored on your device and are not shared with Amazon. This makes them more resistant to phishing attacks and other security threats.

Passkeys are available on the following devices:

·        iPhones and iPads running iOS 16.1 or later

·        Mac computers running macOS Ventura or later

·         Android devices running Android 13 or later

Set up a passkey for your Amazon account

Follow these steps:

1.    Go to Amazon.com and sign in to your account.

2.    Click on the "Your Account" tab in the top right corner of the screen.

3.    Click on "Login & security."

4.    Scroll down to the "Passkeys" section and click on the "Set up" button.

5.    Follow the on-screen instructions to create a passkey.

6.   You will then be prompted to verify your identity. This can be done by using your fingerprint, your face ID, or by entering a code that was sent to your phone or email address.

7.    Once you have verified your identity, your passkey will be created and you can start using it to sign in to your Amazon account.

Sign in to your Amazon account using a passkey

Follow these steps:

1.    Go to Amazon.com and click on the "Sign in" button.

2.    Enter your email address and click on the "Continue" button.

3.    You will then be prompted to use your passkey to sign in.

4.    Use your fingerprint, your face ID, or the PIN that you use to unlock your device to verify your identity.

5.    Once you have verified your identity, you will be signed in to your Amazon account.

Passkeys are a more secure way to sign in to your Amazon account than passwords. They are not stored on Amazon's servers, so they are not vulnerable to phishing attacks. They are also more difficult to guess than passwords.

If you are using a device that does not support passkeys, you can still sign in to your Amazon account using your password. However, we recommend that you set up a passkey as soon as possible to improve the security of your account.

Keep in mind about passkeys

·        You can create multiple passkeys for your Amazon account.

·        You can remove a passkey if you no longer want to use it.

·        You can use your passkey to sign in to your Amazon account on other devices.

·        If you lose your device, you can still sign in to your Amazon account using another device that has a passkey for your account.

·        If you forget your passkey, you can reset it by using your password.
