Significance of Literature Review in Educational Research

Literature review is just a summary of what science exists about a specific topic. It is always based on a second source - that is, what other people have written about the subject; it is not about discovering new information. As such, it is a preliminary research into further research, a summary of scientific ideas. A literature search should only focus on relevant academic particular subject : popular or non-academic sources can sometimes be used to illustrate a point, but central importance is always dependent on data that collected or theories compiled by recognized experts in the field. A literature review will try to look at as much of this existing research as possible.
